Meet the Byaheros

The people behind Byaheng Bayani

Marianna Alfa Fernando-Pacua (HANNA) loves travel, photography, writing, and has a passion for social development work. In 2007, she was the first Filipina who traveled with the international non-profit group, Up With People (UWP, www.upwithpeople.org), where she spent 6 months traveling in 7 countries (including the Philippines) with other international youth, spreading the message of peace and understanding through music, performance, and community service. Her UWP experience made her see the importance of travel and immersion in order to enhance self-awareness and the desire to make a difference. Byaheng Bayani was conceptualized to bring the similar experience closer to the Filipino youth.

She currently works full time as an Operations Analyst for the Sustainable Energy Finance Program of the International Finance Corporation. Prior to IFC, she has worked with the Coca-Cola Foundation, and Ayala Foundation in programs involving sustainability, youth, education, and volunteerism. She graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2002 with a degree in Human Ecology, Major in Social Development, and is currently taking up her Masters in Development Communication in the University of the Philippines Open University. Hanna received an Outstanding Alumna Award for Volunteerism and Advocacy last October 2013 from the UPLB College of Human Ecology.

She is married to Sam Pacua, and mom to 2 year-old Samuel Antonio (Tonyo). Hanna handles overall strategy and stakeholder engagement for Byaheng Bayani.

Angeli A. Payumo (ANJ) is a traveler, photographer and volunteer. She is always in search of new things to learn and considers the community her classroom. Driven by her alma mater’s motto to always serve the people, she spent a lot of time volunteering while employed as an Assistant Manager for the Credit Card Operations Division of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. While at HSBC, she got involved in several company volunteering programs. It is while working in and with the community that she realized what her heart yearned for the most – to empower others through her own actions. This prompted her to make the big leap out of the corporate world to seek a career in development work. Anj graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines – Los Baños in 2006.  She currently handles operations and logistics for Byaheng Bayani.

Belinda I. Tamayo (BEL) loves to travel the world and share the beauty of it through photography.  She has travelled to several countries in Europe and Asia.  She believes that in order to fully understand a culture, one would have to be fully immersed with the people.

She is currently a Team Assistant for the Investment Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance Programs of the International Finance Corporation.  Prior to IFC, she was working with IBM Business Services as an Expense Processing Leader in the Human Resources Department.  She graduated from Ateneo De Manila University in 2007 with a degree in Management Economics.  She will be graduating from her MBA degree in Business Administration in Ateneo Graduate School of Business in 2013. Bel handles Finance for Byaheng Bayani.
